Launched in 1964 Awaji Puppet Theatre Inherits the tools of the Yoshida Denjiroza Theater, which boasts a history of over 260 years, and performs puppet joruri that has been passed down through generations of people's ingenuity.
in 1976 AWAJI NINGYÔ JÔRURI has been designated as a nationally designated important intangible folk cultural property. Awaji Puppet Theatre In addition to performing at the permanent museum, the company also travels to perform domestically and internationally, gives lectures to schools, provides guidance to successor groups for elementary, junior high, high school, and children's group activities, and cooperates with the National Traditional Performing Arts Puppet Theater Preservation Society. We are also actively engaged in activities to popularize and develop Ningyo Joruri.
